map skills reflection
I think the names of the Continents and Oceans are the easiest because we have learned them before. I also think understanding the Compass Rose was easy because before I was told a way to remember the direction. Never eat soggy waffles, the beginning of each word stands for the beginning letter for each direction North, East, South, and West.I think Scale is the hardest part of basic map skills because I am having trouble understanding it and I can't figure out the length on the page or the computer to real life length.
Basic Map Skills are necessary because they could help you one day while traveling or going on a roadtrip to know which way you are going or how far you are going. While on a road trip you might want to know what town, state, or city you are in, you could also want to know what elevation you are at, or if you are coming up to a elevated area. Also it is always good to understand maps because it could impact your job in the future.
I liked how you said the 5 themes show connections between people and the earth, how they interact with Earth and, they can help you travel. But, I wish I knew how the 5 themes of geography could affect my job in the future. I think you could’ve added a little more about how they could affect my job and what jobs they will affect. I also disagree that Location and Place are the hardest to understand out of the 5 themes. I think it is difficult to tell them apart sometimes like you said, but personally they aren’t the hardest. I do agree though, that the names of oceans and continents are easiest to understand.
